While you wait for us, there are a few things you can do to keep the damage from getting worse. If you can get to it safely, turn off the main water valve, which is usually in the basement or near the water heater. You can also switch off the breakers for any rooms with standing water as long as the electrical panel is somewhere dry, but if the panel itself is wet, stay away from it and let our team handle it when we get there.
After that, it helps to lift rugs, electronics, and anything sentimental off the floor and onto a dry surface. Take a few photos of the damage before anything is moved, since they’ll be useful for your insurance claim, and try to stay out of any room where the ceiling is sagging or stained.
Water doesn’t stop causing damage once the leak is fixed. It keeps spreading through carpet padding, baseboards, and the bottom of the drywall, and it can travel under walls into rooms that look perfectly dry from the doorway. Within a day or so, drywall begins to soften and hardwood floors start to cup, and if the moisture is left alone for a few more days, mold can begin growing inside the walls where nobody can see it.
That’s why water removal is always our first priority when we arrive. Extracting water is far faster than waiting for it to evaporate, and the more moisture we pull out early on, the less material has to be torn out later. In most cases, that means a shorter drying time, fewer repairs, and a lower overall cost.
Is water still spreading through your home? Call (631) 422-2100, and we’ll get a crew on the way.
Our team guides you through each stage of water damage restoration, from the initial assessment to the final walkthrough.
Dedicated project management, detailed documentation and coordinated service at every stage.
Coordinated restoration, clear communication and a dedicated project manager.
Every job starts with a walkthrough. Your project manager will track down the source of the water and use moisture detection tools to find out how far it has spread, including behind walls and under floors, where it’s easy to miss. We’ll also photograph and document everything along the way so you have a complete record of the damage for your insurance company.
Once we know what we’re dealing with, our technicians extract the standing water and remove any materials that are too saturated to save, such as carpet padding or the lower section of drywall. If a burst pipe or an electrical problem caused the damage in the first place, we can take care of emergency plumbing and electrical repairs while we’re there so the same thing doesn’t happen again.
After the water is out, we set up our drying equipment, including commercial dehumidifiers and air movers to dry the framing, subfloor, walls, and hardwood. We monitor moisture readings throughout the process, and the equipment stays in place until those readings show that everything has returned to a normal, dry level.
With the structure dry, we clean and sanitize the affected areas to prevent odors and keep mold from taking hold. If mold had already started to grow before we arrived, our team is licensed by New York State to handle mold remediation, so you won’t need to bring in another company.
The last step is putting your home or business back together. Our team has more than 30 years of experience in residential and commercial construction, so we can replace the drywall, insulation, flooring, cabinets, trim, and paint ourselves, and you won’t have to go searching for a separate contractor once the drying is finished.

Here on Long Island and in the city, the calls we get tend to follow the seasons. In the winter, it’s mostly frozen and burst pipes, especially in homes where the plumbing runs along exterior walls or through an unheated garage or crawl space. Spring and fall bring nor’easters that drive rain through roofs and around windows, and heavy storms can overwhelm sump pumps in finished basements, which is a common problem along the South Shore, where groundwater sits close to the surface.
The rest of the year, we’re usually responding to leaking water heaters, failed washing machine hoses, dishwasher lines, and toilet or sewer backups. We also see a lot of water damage after house fires, since the water used to put out a fire can soak a home almost as badly as a flood. If a storm has damaged your roof or broken a window, we can tarp and board up the property during the same visit to keep any more water from getting in.
Your furniture, family photos, clothing, and important papers can often be saved if they’re moved and cleaned quickly. When a job calls for it, our contents team will carefully pack up your belongings, photograph and inventory each item, clean everything that can be restored, and keep it all in our climate-controlled storage until your home is ready for you to move back in.
We also work with all major insurance companies, and we handle direct billing and paperwork with your insurer so you can focus on your family or your business instead of the claim.

Most homes take about three to five days to dry completely, although larger losses, water that sat for a while before it was found, and dense materials like hardwood or plaster can take longer. We check moisture levels throughout the process and only remove our equipment once the readings confirm that everything is dry.
Not necessarily. Hardwood floors that are dried quickly can often be saved, though some boards may need to be sanded and refinished afterward. Carpet can sometimes be dried in place, but the padding underneath usually needs to be replaced, and laminate or vinyl plank flooring typically has to come up because water gets trapped beneath it.
Yes, and it can happen faster than most people expect, since mold can start growing on wet materials within 24 to 48 hours. That’s one of the main reasons we work to dry your property as quickly as possible, and if mold has already started, our licensed mold remediation team can take care of it as part of the same project.
That depends. Most companies cover accidental damage, but have stipulations against damage that occurs due to negligence. A lot of insurance companies also require a separate policy for flooding. Our team has plenty of experience working with insurance companies and are happy to help provide you with the insight and assistance you need to ensure you receive the best possible coverage.
In many cases, yes. It depends on how much of the home was affected and whether areas like the kitchen, bathrooms, or electrical system are involved, and your project manager will talk through what to expect during the first visit.
